Postcard Poster DIY

We have two little hairy monsters walking around our house, and sometimes the garden. They are curious, sweet, soft and hilarious. But they are also naughty, insisting and stubborn. And they have their little manners that some people have well described or drawn in a multiple of books. Our animated favorites are Simons Cat, How to tell if your cat is plotting to kill you and Cats Are Weird. Since it is a bit inconvenient to hang your book on the wall, I found other ways to have the beautiful animations as a decoration. Jeffrey Brown not only drew Cats Are Weird but he also made a postcard box with 30 postcards called The Cutest Sneeze in the World. So I bought the postcard box and searched for the funniest and most recognizable drawings, 8 for a horizontal frame and 8 for a vertical frame. The good thing about the mostly wordless comics is the way you discover new things each time you have a look at them. And since these two frames did a good job in our living room we also framed the poster that came with the book from the Oatmeal (to avoid a cat comic overkill we hung it in our hallway).
This is an idea for any kind of subject. You don’t have to own fur balls to make your own postcard poster.

Ansichtkaart Poster

Wij hebben twee harige monsters rondlopen in ons huis en af en toe onze tuin. Ze zijn nieuwsgierig, lief, zacht en hilarisch. Maar ze zijn ook ondeugend, aanhoudend en eigenwijs. En ze hebben hun eigen maniertjes die bepaalde mensen heel treffend beschreven of getekend hebben in een grote hoeveelheid boeken. Onze getekende favorieten zijn Simons Cat, How to tell if your cat is plotting to kill you en Cats Are Weird. Omdat het een beetje onhandig is om een boek aan de muur te hangen, heb ik een andere manier gevonden om toch de mooie tekeningen als decoratie in huis te hangen. Jeffrey Brown heeft naast Cats Are Weird ook een set van 30 ansichtkaarten getekend getiteld The Cutest Sneeze in the World. Ik heb dit doosje ansichtkaarten gekocht en de grappigste en meest herkenbare uitgezocht, 8 voor een horizontaal hangende lijst en en 8 voor een verticaal hangende lijst. Het leuke van de overwegend tekstloze tekeningen is dat elke keer als je er naar kijkt je nieuwe dingen ontdekt. En omdat deze twee lijsten al een tijdje met succes in onze woonkamer hangen hebben we de poster die in het boek van The Oatmeal zat ook ingelijst (om een katten overkill te voorkomen, hangt deze in de gang).

Dit is een idee voor elk soort onderwerp. Je hoeft geen wandelende haarballen te hebben om een ansichtkaart poster te maken.
